My daily picture – Who "paints" the leaves with rust?!

When the leaves are yellow or rusty, it’s as clear as possible: it’s Autumn.

We wonder why the colors yellow and orange appear in the fall? Well, they don’t appear! The colors in the leaf, hidden by the green color, which is constantly renewed due to the photosynthesis process.

When the temperature drops, the process of photosynthesis ceases, chlorophyll (a green pigment) is no longer produced and the remaining reserves of this substance are removed from the leaf. Not the same thing happens with pigments of another color, which are much more resistant and do not depend directly on photosynthesis. They remain in the leaf and give these wonderful colors.
