My daily picture – The Field of Poppies

Every year, at the end of May and early June, the poppies color the fields in red. The time of the poppy has passed, it is almost the time of the harvest and I realized that this year I did not celebrate their beauty. But as it is never too late, here is a photo of red drops in a sea of green! Enjoy your Sunday!

  1. I have always loved poppies. On ANZAC Day in April, New Zealanders wear poppies to remember anyone who had to fight a war.
    I always think of my 2 great uncles who died in World War 1.
    Poppies are always beautiful

  2. I have to admit I did not know about the poppie’s healing characteristics. They are a very beautiful bloom and of course they remind me of the poem by John McCrae (a Canadian surgeon) written in May 1915 during the First World War: In Flanders field, the poppies blow, Between the crosses row on row….. Scarce heard amid the guns below…This poem and the poppy are symbols of Remembrance Day…
