My daily picture – Old Castle In Saarburg

I visited this castle a long time ago. I don’t remember if I talked about it before, but today I found this photo in the archive and I remembered that summer day. I went with Maya to discover Saarburg. After visiting the waterfall, we passed through the castle area. Saarburg Castle is one of the oldest mountain castles in western Germany. It belonged to the Trier archbishops after 1064 and was their favorite residence in the 14th century. Worth the little climbing because the view is breathtaking. The castle has a tower from where you can see the Saar river valley and surrounding area.
