Mortal enemy of the coconut tree

The small black beetle looks cute especially when it walks slowly. But this creature can decimate an entire coconut plantation. When the attack in droves, they eat the young leaves of the coconut tree that the tree would not have buds anymore and would not produce the young leaves anymore. In effect, the tree will die a natural death.

Farmers use insecticide to kill those beetle in order to save their coconut plantation. But one farmer had discovered that putting sand in between the tree and the leaves will discourage the beetle to attack their farms. The sand would chafe the body of the beetle and it will be painful so they will stop moving towards the top. That sand is a pretty good trick to prevent damage to the tree.
