Monday Macro – Cacti and Succulents In Bloom

This is another of my succulents in bloom.  This is my Huernia Zebrina which is starting to bloom. It is also called the doughnut flower.

This is a stunning flower that enjoys rave reviews from my friends. It stays on the plants for weeks. This year however, the plant had a scaly infestation which went unnoticed and took a toll on the health of the plant and they are barely blooming. The rugged stems become a great camouflage for the Scaly insects, you’ve got to be really vigilant to notice it.

Thankfully I was able to save them in time and happy to see them bloom. This is an easy succulent to grow , but the stems are pretty fragile,  strong winds or other plants brushing against them could break their stems. It could be a blessing in disguise as these could be planted as new plants altogether.
