Marble chips and paste came to my rescue

While I was given a free hand to design my dream home my husband insisted it should be white in and out.  That was indeed a tough call but at the same time I left no stone upturned to please him.

Initially I had no idea how I would achieve it.  I referred to several books.  There were so many issues to be considered before plunging on any idea that would strike me  And an idea did strike me that is to use marble chips for the sloping roof, the exterior walls and the flooring inside.

We had to  get marble chips by truck loads.  I engaged labour to sort out the pieces as not all were of uniform thickness.

My engineer introduced me to a mason who was expert in finishing the inside walls with marble paste. He also did our flooring inside.  Then there was that mason who did the outside walls and the roof.

We however had to change the flooring as since we had 4 dogs their nails would dig into the chips and they would come off. We now have spartek tiles in ivory.

It is almost 30 years now and we have not painted our house.  We just need to wash it.

    • When we were living in the city we had this bother of painting our flat which was quite a cumbersome job, having to shift furniture all over the place and my husband losing his patience (lol)
