Many uses of rose petals

As a kid I remember just eating rose petals not from my garden but flicked from the neighbour’s.  For some reason roses did not do well in mother’s garden. She had several other flowers.

I gave up that practice when I grew up as I thought it was a kid thing.  Little did I know then rose petals have health benefits. I am a big girl now but somehow I do not like the taste of rose petals any more.

I have strewn petals on the floor at events – I am a party organiser.  They are also used as confetti at weddings.

I watched a cookery show where contestants were merrily adding rose petals in their dishes. Rose water is also a toner.

Most importantly   rose petals are used for making rose water which is used to sprinkle on guests on auspicious occasions.

Rose water can be prepared at home.  You can go around and collect those petals specially rose petals from roses that are on the verge of withering.

Here is a recipe for making rose water at home

  1. I remember what I did to the rose given to me by my suitor. I kept it inside my book. I wanted to preserve it so when it dried down I made it as a decoration in my portfolio.

  2. I use them as decoration on puddings and pies, sometimes in fruit salads. I add them to the compost bin when I don’t use them in the kitchen.

  3. I know they make great perfumes out of roses but it has healing effects but I didn’t know … I never tried a rose leaf so I don’t know what it tastes like
