• If I report a comment on my post, I would like it to remain off my postThe remainder got 6 or fewer votes. As a long-time IT person, who has run sites similar to Virily, I want to caution everyone. The dashboard updated more often three years ago. But at that time there were less than 200 users. We are well past 2000 users, and doing that update or change may be very expensive. The other side of the poll from Friday is that most people are not willing to commit their Virils to fix the site. Based on that, the admin team. I won’t rerun the poll the link to the post with the overall community polls is here. https://virily.com/virily_poll/the-13-questions-that-were-9-and-then-10-for-the-virily-admin-team-from-the-virily-community/.

I will ask the will you trade the value of one viril for the cost to fix the site one more time today.

It is important to remember (Rex reminded me of this in a recent comment) advertising online revenue has decreased over the past eight years by a lot. Virily is operating on a small budget (IMHO). I don’t think that Virily has been moving towards becoming a publically traded company (listed on the stock exchange, selling shares in the site to buyers) but I don’t live in the country where Virily is hosted, so I don’t know if they are doing that in reality.

I am packaging all of this up and sending it to the Admin team tomorrow!

For this poll, please only pick one of question 2, 3 or 4!

  • Question of

What is more important to you?

    • I want the list of changes but I am not willing to pay for it
    • I understand it costs money to make changes to the site I am willing to contribute by reducing the value of a Viril
  • Question of

More frequent dashboard updates is the most important?

    • Yes
    • No
  • Question of

Being able to edit, delete or change my comments is most important

    • Yes
    • No
  • Question of

Being able to edit my posts is the most important

    • Yes
    • No

  1. These are all good ideas. I think editing and deleting post should be permitted. It will definitely be easier for the staff as well.

  2. Sometimes I feel like we get stuck in “we all want what we don’t have”. I think it’s a good idea to give feedback and share ideas. Ultimately it is a business that is trying to make a profit. While I wish every thing could be all about “us”, it’s not our business.

On the other hand Doc, if you have an interest in running a site ………

I somehow know I am going to get a scolding for this one. I am simply grateful for the people and the site, come what may.

    1
    • why a scolding? I suspect the reality of where we are is that we are moving past negative comments in our community!

I do not wish to run a site again, thank yOU!!!!~!!

  3. Reducing the cost in order to accommodate suggestions made is possible. Messaging and compliments where we get paid could be done away with This could be misused by users. Just a thought

    • Good thoughts all!!! I suspect the only way they would be able to undertake the changes is to reduce the value of a viril.

but the community seems against that.

  4. I guess the truth is you need to pay for something you get. I think we need to make Virily work but combining our strengths to create something good.
I hope that we all get paid but we really need to make an effort to help this site make a profit to work better.

  5. If Admin could find ways to reduce their cost in other ways without affecting the efficiency of the site there is no reason why the value of a virily should be decreased.

    • well after 3 years with the dashboard issue, my gut is it is partially a manual process. based on that and the reality of a complex software solution, I am not sure efficiency can solve the cost issue. But as the first is your opinion, the second is my opinion. I could be wrong!

  6. Thanks for sharing this. I would prefer to be able to edit my posts if I can only choose one. I am actually fine with the rest, though I am also okay not to edit my posts, it’s good if we can make some changes to the posts if it’ll make them better or more relevant in future. 🙂

  7. the dashboard updates at the end of the month, and if it is too much of a burden to update on demand then what about giving each user three or four updates a month?

  8. I’m sorry, my dear friend ….. I have to agree with Indexeter … Where is the tacho of 2,400 members … it works for us, maybe 50 … sorry this is pure truth

    1
    • I understand that – the site lists more than 2400 members. Active is always the question there are many fewer active writers now than there have been in the past. But more now in 2019 (July) than there was in 2019 (Feb)

      • I will not argue this because I’m not keeping a record …. I know only that with no new there is nothing … except perhaps 2.3 … you know money that nobody will give up … some people think they will be earned here I do not know what kind of money … that’s utopia

        1
    • I agree. I am going hat in hand with the goals of a community not even willing to reduce the value of a Vriil to get the changes.

My chances are slipping away fast.

        • I haven’t posted them yet – I was going to hold off until tomorrow! But, because you asked they are here.

Q: What is more important to you?
I want the list of changes but I am not willing to pay for it (8 votes) – 80%
I understand it costs money to make changes to the site I am willing to contribute by reducing the value of a Viril (2 votes) – 20%

          Yes (5 votes) – 50%
          No (5 votes) – 50%
Q: Being able to edit, delete or change my comments is most important

        • looks like edit my post, edit my comment are ahead right now. With only one vote per person, the hopefully real goals of the overall community come out.

          1
        • I wouldn’t be surprised, the firsy two are going to be something they will either reject out of hand or say sorry change or virils.

The others are more evenly distributed because people can only select 1.

Everyone wants a better dashboard, but edit comments and edits posts were the two things that came out of my original ask of the community.

          1
          • One more comment and I will be done. Regarding the 1st question….

What is more important to you?
I want the list of changes but I am not willing to pay for it (8 votes) – 80%

I wonder how many went quickly though the answer without reading it carefully. The word NOT could easily be missed. Just sayin’.

            1
        • I suspect the word not was missed by a couple. but 11 to 3, let’s assume 4 people read it wrong it is still 7 to 7.

Thanks though, you are right I should have been more careful.

          1
  9. I think many of Virily users are readers. The majority of them left Virily. I checked on many of the users, some left as long as two years ago.
I will only stick with editing post and comment.

    1
  10. That is an interesting set of results.

Also of interest is your statement that there are now 2000+ Virily users. One has to ask – if this is the case, where are they? There must be a huge number of “sleepers”, judging by the relatively small number of people who contribute posts and comments.

    1
    • There are on average 300 new posts a day (many from 5 or so authors).

But I do agree with you there are many sleepers here.

2400 give or take is the published number by the admin team. Active I would tend towards agreeing with you.

But active reading and active posting are two different things.
