Do you remember my Orange beauty? If not, you are free to click on the link. There I asked your help to identify this butterfly. The responses were 56% in favor of Small Skipper. Well, today I met again with this wonderful thing. He rested on a white clover flower, waiting to be photographed. This time I’ve been able to see it better! By comparing what I’ve seen with Wikipedia data I’ve managed to identify him as Small Skipper
It has a rusty orange color to the wings, upper body and the tips of the antennae. The body is a silver white below.This butterfly is very similar in appearance to the Essex skipper (Thymelicus lineola). In the small skipper, the undersides of the tips of the antennae are yellow, while they are black in the Essex skipper.(wikipedia)
It’s not a real macro photo but it’s a nice close-up so I’ll share this with Macro Monday Challenge.

I think the ones I have are Fiery Skippers but very similar.
I think I saw Fiery Skipper, but I did not shoot it!
I posted one on Tsu a long time ago. They have more spots than the Small Skipper and I think not as pretty.

How can you get so close!?
First I hypnotized (kidding!) it.
If I am not in his visual range, I can easily approach. Most of the time he flies but returns to the same place. This time he did not fly( i was lucky) and I managed to take this picture!
Wow, so you must learn some Ninja skills too to get good macros!!
And oh, I need to sign up for hypnotizing classes too if I fail at Ninja skills :p
Or maybe you’re so good the insects sees your photos on their intra-web and decided to queue for you to take photo of them! :p

??You are not far from the truth!! Maybe I have some Ninja skills! In my youth I practiced martial arts (I’m not kidding).
Very cute little butterfly. I do not think we have these small skippers here in the Outaouais valley. The most common butterfly that we have is the monarch butterfly which emigrate to the south each year if I remember well.
I do not think I saw Monarch Butterfly in my area!
I actually just took photos of skippers in my garden this morning!
