Macro photography is the art of taking close-up pictures which show us details that can’t be seen with the naked eye. As I said many, many times, a macro photograph is one in which the size of the subject on the sensor is equal or greater than its life size.
Do not blame me! I have seen many photos posted in this challenge that do not meet the criteria of macro photography. Not everyone is familiar with what macro photography means and that’s why I found useful to recall this.
This is a small bud of a flower in my “garden”. It is only 5 mm in diameter. Soon the bud will turn into a bunch of flowers. I’ll show you its evolution!

Well, I just got here from clicking our link in the process post. I can see that it is a sedum, but not an autumn joy as they do not have spots, and the flowers come away from the leaves. This one is really beautiful. Carol needs this one in her garden!!
I meant to say I just got here by clicking your link in the process of this flower’s post.
A type of cactus? do correct me if I am wrong.
Great macro , thanks for sharing
Thank you for the comment!
I have yet to go for days dedicated to certain topics. I have enough of my own at the moment.
I have my own daily topics that I post. Monday is always dedicated to macro photos. If anyone wants to participate it is ok, but no one is required to participate.
Your shot is not very clear this time unlike your usual macro photos.
It was my choice to do so using a very small DOF, to highlight only certain details. Not everyone needs to appreciate what I do?
Unfortunately, I see this flower for the first time. The flower is beautiful.
We call it October Daphne. It’s a type of sedum as Carol said!
thank you for the explanation ?
I love your macro photographer, I admit I just take a small photo image and its not really true macro photography, but then I don’t have a macro lens.
There is a lot I have to learn about photography
You take very beautiful close-up photos, Pamela. We all have a lot to learn about photography. I try to learn something new every day.
It’s the best macro photo I’ve seen here! Do you use dedicated macro lenses?
Thank you! Yes, I have a Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro
I’m struggling with taking good macro …
hehe, nice macros you’ve got there! 🙂
You really take good macro photos!
Another excellent macro. Reminds me of some type of sedum or cactus but I am guessing.
You are right, Carol! It’s Sedum sieboldii.
Oh cool, I thought I recognized a little sedum on the leaves.
