Dianthus is a favorite spring to summer flower in my garden. These comes in a variety of colors and are quite eye catching. They have a mild clove like fragrance. Birds and bees alike love these flowers.
These small flowers are often mistaken for carnations because of their jagged petals. They have blueish-green grass like leaves. They can be easily grown from seeds.
They love full sun and grow well in well draining soil. In spring, they bloom in abundance. They are fantastic for window planters.

They are beauties indeed and your mum chose very well . ?
A beautiful flower. I thought at first glance to Carnation.
It does look like a carnation because of the jagged edges of the petals and the shape of the flower itself.
what a beautiful shot! I have seen these flowers in people’s houses. They are lovely.
Thanks Doc for stopping to admire my tiny Dianthus.
I love it, it easy to grow

I have grown these and I think they are also called pinks. Your photo is stunning.

That is a lovely flower and I really like the color,
Thank you RasmaSandra, I love the color too.
I think this flower grows in us too and we call it hasty, dear Dawn … or it is very similar to it
I am sure it does, it is a pretty common flower.
It’s probably the same flower, my dear friend
I started several indoors last winter and transplanted to the garden in spring.
Thankfully we don’t have to do all that , we sow the seeds directly into the ground or containers outside.
Stunning color, my neighbor has these blooms.
I love the spicy, almost clove like smell of the blooms when the wind blows your way.
A very attractive flower, although not one I have ever grown myself.
Attractive indeed, but very easy to grow.
I love it! It was also my mother’s favorite flower. Nice picture!
I agree, its easy to fall in love with these beauties. Thank you Ileana.
