This beautiful blue orchard bee is a common visitor to our garden. This rather plump looking bee drills holes into the soil to lay eggs. The beautiful electric blue color and black on its body and the metallic purple on its wings make the orchard bee an attractive insect. The huge eyes of this bee, the color and the shape are amazing too.
However. I have found it really hard to photograph this insect. This one was almost dead crawling on a pile of grass. Taking photos of insects in the garden really requires a lot of patience and alertness.
