Macro Monday challenge – Ipomea Horsfalliae

This vine belongs to the same family as the morning glory or sweet potato. It has lovely deep green leaves , shinny and thick which makes great background for the deep pink flowers.

My neighbor had the vine running right up to the penthouse, though she lived on the ground floor. I loved seeing it every morning as I looked out of my window from the next building.

These plants always seem to have red ants crawling all over the place which made her get rid of the vine. I was so sad when I came back after a holiday to see the vine all gone. She told me about how her kids and her dog were always bitten by ants as they played in her backyard.

The tiny flowers ooze with nectar which makes it a favorite for sun birds and bees too.
