Loving What You Have

Sometimes people just don’t appreciate what they do have and instead dwell on what they don’t have. This is a useless use of emotions. First of all, you might never get what you particularly desire and second of all is what you have so bad? I always attempt to put myself into a situation that is a lot worse than what I have and then I come to realize that my life is not so bad at all.

The important thing is to achieve happiness by focusing on what is in abundance in your life rather than what is lacking. It is focusing on what we don’t have that often brings us down and puts us in a disagreeable mood. However, if you think about it logically if you didn’t have what you have – where would you be? There are people who have no roofs over their heads and there you sit in a nice, comfortable house. For that reason alone you should have a smile on your face.

Think about those you love, your family and your friends – where would you be without them? There are many lonely people out there so count your blessings. Think about your children and grandchildren. Look at the smiling faces around you every day and plant a smile on your own face. When we grump about things that are senseless we bring down those who matter the most to us. By enjoying and loving what we already have and appreciating the many blessings in our lives will give us a feeling of contentment and will save us from dwelling on what we don’t want.

It is sort of like wanting to reach for the moon when what we have on earth is plenty enough. Life often mingles with the good and the bad and you can be sure that if storm clouds gather in your life the rainbows are not far behind. So focus on the abundance around you and accept what you have and be grateful to have as much as you do have. In the journey to happiness, we must be grateful for all that we have. Somewhere along the way we might wind up under a lucky star and have some of our dreams fulfilled but for now just say each day life is good, it is as it should be.

The photo is of what I consider the magical dragon that gives me strength each day to do my work and it sits right in front of me on my PC table.
