I realize that I am often on the cutty edge of technology, far beyond what most folks that read my pieces even remotely care about. I do also know, that beyond me there are those even further on the cutting edge working on even more amazing things than I have and do consider.
One of the concepts that I find very interesting is the expanding world of Modular drones. There are several drone companies making and delivering drones today. A modular done allows you to quickly switch the capabilities of the drone. Waterproof camera, sonar, 4k camera or even Libar and infrared camera. All functions that a modular drone can provide. Take off, use one module, return, replace the battery, and take off with next module.
Today many police and rescue departments use drones to find lost people or lost children. It is amazing what you can do with a drone now.
But, there are new things coming that I’ve written about many times over the years. Aerial metal detectors, for drones. Not to find weapons but to find coins on the beach. Fly the drone over the beach it tells you where the coins are.
My joke ages ago was pack a sock full of nickles and go to the beach. Watch the metal detection drones gather overhead. More and more things are possible in the expanding drone market. Where things will end up, we shall see.
But I know this, drones are here. They are not going anywhere, other than up, over and around things that are in their way!

I am not against drones used in any kind of research. But I am against using them as paparazzi.

that is an interesting problem – one that I suspect is going to be a big issue very soon.
I like the photo, yes, we have drones……
There is a company that offers tours of NZ via drone!
Drones are good for finding lost people in the bush or on mountains or for sea rescues.
However, I am against photographing people and invading their privacy….
Also we had problems with people using drones for other reasons here.
we do in the US as well, one of the biggest issues was drones used to carry drugs over the border.
I do agree, but I am against human beings that violate other people’s privacy anyway!
Some of the Drones have violated airspace in Auckland’s Airport and caused problems for air traffic.
The people responsible got caught which was great.
we’ve had that issue in the US – they work very hard to make sure people don’t do that.

that is sadly true. we’ve actually had drones at the US Open Tennis stadium buzzing the crowd. A dumb thing to do.

I actually applaud the news agencies using drones to show things from high in the sky.
But when people do it just to snoop it is bad

The word drone by itself has no effect but it becomes meaningful when it is connected with activity that brings fear or happiness.
i would hope a drone flying overhead would not invoke fear.
the delivery drones are going to use AI, obviously. do you know if they’re navigating via object recognition or RADAR?
That will depend – the reality of personal drones is that they will remain line of sight for a long time.
The delivery drones (per your question) would operate on a number of tech components. The easy part would be the lidar used in cars and trucks to avoid collisions.
The harder part for food delivery would be the new customer. That I suspect would use a form of either radar or a combination lidar, radar and other systems.
personal drones can afford to be remotely operated, but delivery drones have to be autonomous…
yes, the control software is pretty interesting. There are a number of options beyond AI in the short run that are in play.

As of today? Probably 25 or more. I can, however, answer questions about 5g! Also, boating and dog ownership are open!

They (NDA’s) are a part of life. The fun starts when you sit in rooms that have cross NDA’s!

It can be a lot of fun! My favorite is the new NDA’s to cover NDA’s. Used to be when I started out as a consultant, that the Master Services Agreement between a customer and the company I worked for was enough.
Now, it isn’t even a good starting point. my how times change.
One NDA to rule them all? Sounds redundant…

I had a manager once who said add on sales was the big driver for people on his team.
I booked more business than anyone in the district and still had utilization of 80%.
My boss said in my review that I wasn’t billable enough.
now that’s one hell of an endorsement
he (that boss) is a VP at the company now. It is why I stay arms length away.
unless he has a problem with his system, he should be easy enough to avoid
He has nothing to do with the US Federal side of that company so I am safe!

Luckily for me I moved from employee to customer so they have to be a little nicer to me now.

A few months back when we were in a mountain resort, we were surprised to hear a buzzing sound in the air. At first we thought it was a bird or animal that was producing the sound until my brother-in-law spotted the drone above.
Interesting, people love their drones and the images they can get from them. They fly them nearly everywhere now. Some places are, of course, are off-limits for personal drones.
I already saw the drone at work. They to take pictures a waterfall.
lots of companies use drones to reduce the requirements for humans to do dangerous and tedious jobs.

My personal drone would not bother me … I would watch it with interest
Its funny, the first few times we watch them with interest. Then we wonder why they keep coming back to the same places.
You see how that is today, my friend … you can’t be filmed on the toilet already … but we live in such times and I came to terms with it

I do believe that the buzzing sounds up in the sky I have heard have been drones flying overhead because they certainly weren’t planes but much smaller objects.
the number of drones around us has increased. Soon you will get burritos and pizza delivered by a drone!

We have metal detectors; and the concept of aerial metal detection is entirely new to me. Fascinating!

It would be annoying to have a drone hovering over you because you accidentally carried loads of small change which I always do. LOL
