Life With A Semi-Colon

What I meant, when I wrote the header, “Live Your Life With A Semi-Colon,  I want to demonstrate, that there ought to always be something better, to follow as the definition of a Semicolon in a Sentence always suggests.  to the reader, that something important is about to follow, therefore, just as hate has 4 letters, so has LOVE

Consider these almost prophetic words, which can so easily hang us by our tongues!

The word, Enemies has 7 letters, so does FRIENDS, Lying has 5 letters and so also has TRUTH, the word Negative has 8, so does POSITIVE.

Below, has 5, ABOVE has 5 also. Cry has 3 letters, so does JOY. Anger has 5 letters, so does HAPPY. Right has 5 letters, so too does WRONG. Hurt has 4 letters, so does HEAL.

So, what does all this mean? Well, if it needs meaning in order to exist, it means that life is much like a double-edged sword… as such, you need to transform every negative side to positivity… We should as far as humanly possible, always choose the better side of life.

  • Should we rather choose the good things in life?

    • Yes
    • No

    • I agree, 100% Linda.
Time runs out so fast that the speed of it’s passing sometimes leaves me breathless, shaken and yes, even a bit stirred!
I have no idea when or where you grew up but if you can identify with this piece of music and the time period depicted here, then, seemed more positive and purposeful, may it take you back to when even the clocks seemed to tick, a little slower.
If you missed those years, never mind, just take a listen and a glimpse at a time when life was a lot simpler… Enjoy https://youtu.be/hSq4B_zHqPM

      • I was born in 1948. Growing up in the 50s and 60s was marvelous. The clock did tick a little slower, life was more secure; and people were more compassionate.

  1. When reading poetry each of the stoppages is handled differently. Lines, are one style of pause, periods another.

The semi-colon is a speedbump, a chance to look up and make contact.

    Love this!!!

    • Thank you so much, Grace, I have been wanting to share my thoughts about living life as a semicolon for a while now. I’m glad it was positively received by all. God bless.

    • I once saw a documentary about a “suicide survivor” who had attempted suicide many times throughout his life. He received a visit from a Clinical psychologist, who was surprised that he managed to overcome his suicide attempts for several years, she asked him what single factor, made him a survivor as s sadly, her patients in virtually all cases, ultimately lose the battle. He pulled up his sleeve and pointed to a large semicolon tattooed on his forearm, “every time I feel like ending my life, I look and touch the semicolon tattoo reminding me that there is so much more to me.” I’m so glad you liked this piece, Sandra.
