The King of Siam offered President Abraham Lincoln a great gift. He offered several pairs of elephants so they could breed and use as pack and work animals. I guess President Lincoln didn’t think it was a great choice because he refused the gift.

I was surprised that someone would offer such a gift. Just getting them here would have been an ordeal.
