Last for the Year

I was out looking at my garden early this morning. This yellow Day Lily is one of the last ones that remain in my garden. They have been very nice to enjoy once again. Their yellow color always makes me smile, reminding me of the sun. They will return next year all around my house. The yellow and green contrast is my favorite part as well. Do you have a favorite flower you look forward to seeing?

  1. It is awfully hard to select just one flower as a favorite when they are all so magnificent, but anemone would be near the top of my list. At least in the top 100 of so, RFLOL.

  2. Yes, the lilies are about gone. I try to keep seasonal layers going so that various blooms can follow each other. Zinnias are faithful through the summer and often into fall, but the new repeat bloomers in the hydrangea family (and a few others) are a big help in keeping some blooms in the garden. Picking a favorite is hard…perhaps the one currently blooming. :- )

    • I know, me too. The tiger lilies are almost done as well. They last a little longer than these. I need to get some zinnias. My hydrangea has barely bloomed this year. But the three rose of sharon bushes are still in full bloom.

  3. I am glad you left yes and no in there. lol I can’t pick one favorite. Glads, nothing more showy than a grand display of glads. I love all the colors they come in, and are great for flower arrangements. They also look great growing I think. Who couldn’t love the giant off white flowers of a beautiful evergreen like the Magnolia. The lily, from its tiniest variety to the beautiful pink and white of the Star Gazer, they look great in any garden and do really well in arrangement. As do all the flowers you listed. The smell of Honeysuckle and your pretty red ones you share with us, and who couldn’t love a rose!
