Kinsa, another crowd funding success story!!!!

I spend a lot of time dealing with technologists. In my profession, that is all I do. Sometimes, I forget how much other people do not spend time with technology. I wanted to start today by apologizing for all the terms and actions I use in my posts that are alien to most people. It is an occupational hazard with your work in the world of high tech.  In that period, I have learned to wait for new tech. By wait there are parts, the first is being an early adopter, I sometimes end up waiting for new tech to be delivered. The other side is the reality of the market. Most things, don’t take off in terms of the market. There was a great product that I thought was a great idea.

They were adding a second screen that you controlled for your cell phone. They launched their product right before the Samsung Gear and Apple iWatch announcements. Needless to say, that company is now gone. Honestly, that is one of the reasons why I love the companies that end up surviving. Rocketbook is a company I’ve mentioned before. They have three distinct products (notebooks, whiteboards, and their new connected whiteboard product). They have done fairly well since their initial Crowdfunding campaign! I use their products several every day, and I find them to be of high quality and easy to use. They also have a broad enough market impact that well they are still around.

Another company that  I like is Kinsa. The concept of a smart thermostat. In part, it allows having connected healthcare information. Take your temperature and if you are running a low-grade fever, and there are infections in your area know to cause that problem, notify me. Running a fear of 101, in an area with high reports of strep throat, go to urgent care! All of this information makes it easier for parents and young adults starting out, as well as older people, take care of themselves. Kinsa is a great smart thermometer solution (they have a wonderful, smartphone application as well). The growing world of medical information at your fingertips is extremely interesting to me!

  3. I feel I should recuse myself from the polls. I am an anomaly – not a Luddite but paying so little attention … maybe outlier is the word. – I do have one thing: We used optical pyrometers in the glass studio as you don’t want to be near 2400 F. One of my friends got an optical thermometer for her kids and really liked it. I thought ‘wow, amazing progress’ and none of that under your tongue grief.

    • The optical and in the ear thermometers are so much better than the other two options from our childhood!

      There is nothing wrong with waiting to see if the technology is of value to you!!!

  4. Thank you for the information. I keep a regular thermometer at home in case I have to check my temperature. I used to have an outdoor thermometer by my window in Latvia. Now I just step out on my front porch in the morning to find out if it’s hot or cold.

    • You have hit upon one of my arguments for weather stations. It doesn’t matter what the weather people say, there is enough variance in 10 square miles, pending so many things. Sometimes your weather isn’t the same as the predicted!

  8. I use indoor/outdoor thermometers from The Weather channel. Works good, I can see both temps and humid inside and out. To check my fever I use the back of my hand.
