Ketogenic Diets

It is hard to find a magazine on the rack without an article about ketogenic diets. There are a few different options. Some people I associate with call it the Atkins diet with fat bombs. I am working on sorting out the facts as I view and understand them.

Ketosis is a natural process that happens in healthy people. It is a simple metabolic process that your body uses within reason. When carbohydrates to burn for energy, the body produces ketones to help turn the fat to energy. It’s a symbiotic relationship. Too many ketones are deadly.

Some people do some fasting to help spur ketosis. Most versions of the diet suggest that all your meals are eaten in the first eight hours of your day and then you switch to water and tea.

This is how it begins.
