Jungle fire – Caesalpinia pulcherrima

I prefer calling it Jungle fire rather than go for that tongue twister name I have mentioned.  We have this in three colours yellow, orange and pink.  Pink is rare.

I got this pink colour from a garden where this tree was hanging out.  I saw some dried pods which I quickly grabbed.  Actually I was on holiday at my native place.  I carefully collected them and brought them with me.  The seeds sprouted and we now a few of these trees all over.

The branches of the tree is packed with thorns and this is the only negative side of this beautiful flower. But when it comes to parrots they know how to get on the branches and eat away the tender pods
