Journey Trail

There I’ve ever swinging

ask the wind to joke

while looking at the bush and shrub smile

accompanied by insect singing

star and sun friends

in the kalachakra round.

There I have shed tears

but also laughter

rebuked or hugged by the owner of the womb

pinched or pushed by a friend

flattered by flowers or sweetened lovers

plant hopes or reaps meaning.

There now staring the void

weigh black and white

measure the past and future

calculate emptiness

as a door of opportunity

to choose changes in the drama of life.

And let the trail stay there

the faces acting of human children’s

be a journey legacy

as a sign of the existence and none

owner’s secret

and the Sower of Love.

December concludes the year, providing plenty of time to create events and reap memories, sweet and bitter, laughter and sadness. A little time to look back and move forward again.

  1. December brings (holidays) and takes (in the US at least it isn’t warm). Your poem haunts and brings so many questions.

The picture as well, so as my wife (a therapist) always says let’s unpack the biggest suitcase first. An empty swing, first a tool of childhood, the swing. But empty, childhood is gone? The trail taking us away from what we love? Or to new things to love?

    • Thank you for your deep question, Doc.

For me, December is a symbol of “the door to get out of, and into”. As we have left childhood, even have through so many other doors, to accept new learning, experience, understanding, and wisdom. Childhood and all subsequent periods, along with all the feelings attached to it, have long since not swung again on that swing, but only in our memory. The trail can give or take something or vice versa, not give or take anything. It is only our mind and (or) consciousness that can decide whether we will continue to swing there or swing on the current swing.

      • That is a thought to chew on. Do we decide to continue to swing, or do we stop swinging and move on.

What do we lose if we stop swinging? Can we replace that with something else? Perhaps growing things in a garden (well not for me). Perhaps replacing that swing with chasing excitement (I have many friends that do).

        Interesting…

        • You have millions of impressive thoughts and interesting questions, my friend. I think, my poetry and questions are just a trigger for us to make a deeper reflection of ourselves and everything related to it.

Thank you for your amazing response!

  2. I agree with ghetto media. This picture presents a very beautiful, almost surreal trail along with the swing. Yes December announces a brand new year full of hope, new challenges, new joys along with new sorrows. You sure are quite the poet Albert for evoking sentiments.
