Love ItLove It

Is there something missing for you as well?

I have been considering (thanks to Ghostwriter) the impact of Virily on my life. I know that every day I log in to see beautiful pictures (often purple, Thanks Kim) from Carol, Pam, Lado, and Vidocka. I get beautiful creations to view from Alex and Jenna. I also get thought-provoking posts from Albert and many others. Before Virily I got similar information and interaction from Niume. I love the interaction that is created and grows with posts. But I am wondering now; my recent posts have been all over the map. I’ve talked about dream incubation, and I’ve talked about picking a digital camera or a film camera if you so prefer. Or, are you one of the growing numbers of people that choose cell phone camera first.

I wondered this morning if I was seeking something. I have a really good friend who always says “head, pocket, then start looking” He was referring to the process he undergoes to find his glasses. Well, at least that was the genesis of him saying that now whenever someone says they are seeking something he always says that. It makes good sense. Always check your head and your heart as you consider things. Always check around you (pockets). My grandfather always used to say “You always find things in the last place you look.” I remember the first time he said that to me, I looked at him quizzically. I didn’t get it the first time; I did the second time but not the first time.

What is the last thing you looked for?

Did you find it?

In the movie, the fugitive Tommy Lee Jones’ character says when looking for the “Fugitive” “do a hard target search.” What is a hard target search? I have wondered that ever since I first heard it. I guess to end this ramble, for that is what it is, I would say this. I am searching for something. I know I am, I don’t know what it is that I am searching for. I don’t know what the target is, be it hard or soft. I don’t know where the last place to look is, or I would just look there. Instead, I am wondering, wandering and seeking. What I am seeking I do not know. I just know something is missing.

  1. Searching. Looking deep within. I have been doing that myself for all these times I am avoiding Facebook. It is the current theme of the energy. Forcing us to look within in order for us to eventually heal and let go what is no longer serving us. See, mine was triggered by dreams with recurrent themes. I have been wondering why I was having those dreams when I seem peaceful and happy during waking hours. So, I dig deep until I finally found the answer. Then the dream stopped. ?

Sometimes, we get so good at organizing our lives. By doing that, sometimes we get good at sweeping issues that matter to us unconsciously and hence, we are unable to completely ripen as a soul.

Some people say the time has come when we have no other choice but to grow spiritually. It will happen regardless if we are consciously or unconsciously doing it or participating in it.

    • The journey within is filled with danger.
Jules Verne journey to the center of the earth.

Or, more easily, it is important that we truly find a path that is more than simply looking inward.

  2. Wow, what is my hard target? I think it has mostly been survival. Could that really be right? Do hard targets change? I think you need to educate me more.

    • Hard Targets change! For me, the analogy fits best to how I approach the world. There are times I seek to find my hard target, there are times when it is a soft target that I am seeking. The times like now for me are the ones where I seek neither and then feel lost.

  4. I don’t know what to say after reading the comments. You all said what I was going to say. I am really at a loss. I have a hard time putting my thoughts into words. To answer your questions, I am happy with the site, and the people I have met along the way, but in real life, yes I do feel something is missing. The second question made me laugh after our previous comments about your love for anything purple. Giggles 😀 The last question, yes. All the time.. What is that elusive search for anyway?
Our fathers were so much alike and mine often said that to me as well, it always got the famous eye roll and grunt. Dad jokes that make you think..ugh.. Funny how I do the same to my kids now. MOM jokes, eye roll. I am glad to have met all of you here and on the other sites, friends that have lasted over the years. 🙂

    • there is a lot to unpack in your comment Kim.

The eternal quest is difficult at times. But I find great solace in Dad Jokes. There is magic in annoying my children, the way my father annoyed me.

Luckily purple is not that much longer.

  5. Sometimes having something missing makes me work harder. I like the community of Virily. However, I feel hard pressed just to get through the notifications.
I have learned so much from people on the Virily site.
I will be honest here, I would like a bit more pocket money but for now I am content.
I have known wealthy people who never are thankful and never content, but then off course, there are rich people who are relatively happy.

  6. I was also a member of some websites that were similar to this site. I can say that this is one of the better websites. There are many different posts on the website; everyone can find something for themselves. I met many friends, many new cities, traditions, etc. I am also very interested in posting technology, advice, etc. That’s why I like this site.

  7. I’m looking for so many things that I do not even know what I was last looking for … it’s more and more often that I’m looking for something

  8. I have been a member of many sites over the years. This one, like the others, has been to share my photos. I also have made great friends here and enjoy the conversation. We all get to a point of feeling stale, perhaps stale is a good word to use. Sometimes we need to move on. Other times try taking a break.

Bottom line, it is up to us what we are expecting out of a site. Purple photos will always be here. Technology related posts will be here as well. I like the variety this site brings. And I enjoy conversing and learning from people from all over the world. But that is just me. We each have to find our own reason for being here.. or not. Just my opinion.
