In Love or Comfortable?

Some days the conversations are colored by Alzheimer’s. Today he asked how long we had been married. “Well let’s see at least 19 years for you and I.”

“Were you married to someone else?”

“No just you.”

“Who is Nancy? She was your first wife, you got a divorce. That was before  I had ever met you.”

“Humm, so are in love or just comfortable together?”

“I would say we are comfortably in love and it’s probably time for us to go outside and see if we can enjoy some sunshine.”

There are more distractions outside and it can lead to conversations that might not be so stressful for the two of us to review.

I am grateful for distractions.
