“I’m sorry”

They were still trained to be good girls. Such upbringing has created a habit that even when, for example, we take a strong position or heartily defend ourselves, we are constantly apologizing for the others expecting from us. I tell you, there is no reason to apologize, “says Noel Nelson, psychiatrist and author of the book Winner Takes All. To say “I’m sorry” when you accidentally hit your own hat is perfectly fine.

Whether you’re suddenly interrupting a massage that has become unpleasant, directing your hairdresser, or showering for a long time without any special reason, know that you can simply give yourself a shower and do exactly what you want without the feeling that you should apologize to someone.

  1. For that reason you are right, but there is a courtesy of our culture that uses “I’m sorry” or ‘We’re sorry” as a humble expression, in addition to “Please” and “Thank you” or “Excuse me” by still not disturbing self-confidence.

  2. I must also agree with Pamela. Being confidently well mannered is the order, the opposite effect often stems from a low self esteem. Unless we have unjustly created an offense, No! we do not have to say ‘I’m sorry’. Great post!!

  3. Its nice to be with someone you don’t have to apologise for something every 5 mins. I don’t think anyone would have to continually apologise. Only for something to apologise for.
However, I believe in general manners, saying “Please” and “Thank you”.
    Or even “Excuse me”.
Bringing children to have confidence is really important but also I feel consideration for others is essential. Really just common manners. Not a lot is taught to some people and it isn’t entirely their fight.

  4. The main difference between the people is that not everyone is capable of saying ”sorry”. on the other hand, not everyone who says ”sorry” means it! That’s a nice post!
