ICE, Separate Fact from Fiction

I am fine if we do a review and look at any government agency and see if changes and reform are needed. That makes good sense. It seems to be that many Americans are protesting and calling for abolishment when they don’t know the basic facts.

ICE didn’t separate children from their parents at the border. That was Border Patrol, different agency.

Here is their mission.

“ICE’S mission is to protect America from the cross-border crime and illegal immigration that threaten national security and public safety.

This mission is executed through the enforcement of more than 400 federal statutes and focuses on smart immigration enforcement, preventing terrorism and combating the illegal movement of people and goods.”

Maybe many are not familiar with this:

“Bulk Cash Smuggling Center (BSCS) is a central source for information and assistance in identifying, investigating and disrupting bulk cash smuggling organizations operating around the world.”

I did not see one protest sign or hear anyone, not even Maxine, talk about this “ICE special agents, officers and attorneys enforce provisions of approximately 400 federal statutes. This large and diverse body of laws is reflected in the wide array of offices, programs and projects that make up ICE. People are smuggled and trafficked, while children are sexually exploited at home and abroad.” I want someone to stop these things. I think it is important.

Did we learn anything from 9/11? Yes and ICE is part of the solution. “Most ICE offices and programs have a role in preventing terrorism. Several are on the front lines of this effort, either identifying dangerous persons before they enter the U.S. or finding them as they violate immigration or customs laws. ICE also works to prevent the illegal export of U.S. technology that could be used or repurposed to do harm.”

We don’t live in a perfect world. Protesting with no education and no solutions is a waste of time, money and energy. Calling for violence should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, especially if you are an elected official.

I have very little respect for the bickering I see with our elected officials. We have given them too many perks and too much power. If I suggested that someone be murdered, I would be hauled in and questioned at the very least. Our elected officials seem to be applauded for that very action.

If I had a to-do list what I would reform our “elected officials” right off the bat. They would not get paid for life. They would not get to vote and pass their own salary. They would have to show up to work or not get paid. They would have term limits. They would have to live by the same rules and laws that I have to abide by. Yes, we have problems here. ICE is not the most important problem. They are keeping us safe.
