How Do You Console a Grieving Relative?

I got the news last week about a relative of mine who  lost her son. I haven’t reached out to her Ben though I know I should.

The news saddened me a lot and I want to reach out, as I know the mother will be heartbroken but I wouldn’t know what to say.

What are some ways you can offer comfort to someone who’s grieving and in immense pain?

  • Have you ever had someone really close experience such pain?

    • Yes
    • No
  • How did you console them?

    • Yes
    • No

What do you think?

  1. It really depends on the person. Some people just need to cry. Some people need support to stand and walk. Others just need to know you are there.

So based on that, know the person you are supporting understand their pain and reach out to them honestly.

Don’t tell them that everyone dies. Tell them you are there for them.
