HomeWork Time

When the grandkids come to visit what has to get done first is the homework. It usually doesn’t take long and goes rather smoothly. Not so much last time.

We were doing the spelling work and you have to spell it, define it and use it in three sentences. The boys are two years apart and sometimes the words are very different.  I was not prepared for the entire experience this time!

“nemesis” was not a word that I expected and it created a discussion. The younger decided that he was a “nemesis” to the world and he was proud of it.  (This was not going in the right direction.)

Of course, Grandpa had to pitch in his thoughts about who my nemesis was. I was less than pleased with his thoughts, as I had never even met the person he suggested. I just rolled my eyes. That wasn’t good the younger one caught it and I said “I think Grandpa is your nemesis.”

  1. My fondest childhood memories are with my grandparents.
Boating, golfing, fishing and driving around Wisconsin with my grandfather.
Watching Jeopardy, cooking with my grandmother.

What you are giving them is something they will remember forever.

  2. As a fan of the PBS Kids cartoon Wordgirl who was created by Dorothea Gillim who loved to define words when she was a child, it is my duty to use new words to my nephew.
