Some years back there was continuous rain for 5 days that softened the ground. The bad effect is the tilting of trees. Our mango tree in particular tilted badly that we had to trim the big branches so we could push it back to its erect position.
An engineer said that lack of drainage can soften the ground so it is important that rainwater should not stay in one place. Let the water flow so there will not be a problem with the trees.
