Healthy Brownies?

Healthy brownies, probably not. However some are better for you than others. One of my favorite options is to use mashed avocado as the fat and honey as the sweetener. They are great alternative options. In my mind I think they are better than sugar and other fats, but I am not sure that is true.

If I have to use a boxed mix, I put a can of black beans, juice and all in the blender and add nothing else to the mix. Your family will never know they are eating brownies with protein.

  1. I think almost any food is healthy in moderation and especially if we use creative ingredients. Many years ago it was popular to substitute prune puree for the fat and sweetener in baked goods however I have recently started using a whole variety of different pureed vegetables including squash and spinach which really enhance the quality as well as the nutrition of baked goods but don’t really hurt the flavor.
