When we say guard dog, what comes to mind is the dog tied by the front door to drive away potential intruders. At night, the guard dog is in the yard wary of anything that moves inside and even outside the fence. The dog in the home is the guard that is a protection against burglars.
In our experience, the dog is not only for the purpose of driving away burglars. Mice cannot stay in the house anymore when the dog is loose inside because it will chase the mouse that can die of hunger. Other pests like cockroach are also driven away even when the bugs prowl at night since the dog has a strong sense of hearing and feeling. So if you have a problem with your home, get a dog to drive away the pests.

We do have a watchdog at home. She’s turning 5 years old this year.
You have to watch the fleas though, at times.
They are great companions too, dogs, not fleas…lol…
