Have you heard of the rebloom effect? 5 tips to wash your workout clothes.

There is a new word among the fitness community, as Women’s Health magazine points out, and it is the “rebloom” effect. The term refers to freshly laundered training clothes that start to smell bad again soon after leaving the washing machine.

To make your workout clothes always smell good, follow these tips:

1. Air our clothes before putting them in the basket – Putting the sweaty gym clothes in a tight ball and putting them in the bottom of the basket can make them a breeding ground for bacteria formation and proliferation. If you do not wash your clothes immediately, ventilate them.

2. Freeze clothes – Yes, you read well. If you cannot wash your laundry as soon as you take it off, put it in a plastic bag and put it in the fridge freezer until you wash it in the machine. Cold air prevents bacteria from growing and smothers the odor until it can wash away.

3. Calm with the detergent – The use of excess detergent is not a viable solution to mitigate the bad odor of clothing. On the contrary, it can cause mold and mildew to accumulate – it’s a source of food for bacteria. Two teaspoons of detergent are usually more than enough per load of laundry.

4. Do not use fabric softener – The product may clog the high-performance fabric fibers, preventing water and the product from penetrating these grooves for deep cleaning, which in turn may alter the moisture absorbing and odor-fighting properties.

5. Use vinegar – To thoroughly clean any odor that does not come off, try soaking your clothing with one part distilled white vinegar and four parts cold water for 30 minutes. Another solution to removing old odors is to mix a solution of hydrogen peroxide with cold water and soak your clothes overnight.
