Have you heard of Sleeping Beauty Syndrome?

I just read a news about a lady who has been suffering from Kleine-Levin syndrome, which is sometimes being called as Sleeping Beauty syndrome. It is an extremely rare sleep disorder disease. She mentioned she is not as fortunate as the sleeping beauty in Grimm’s fairy tale, as her life won’t be happily ever after.

It’s kinda sad to read someone is suffering from syndrome like this as this syndrome really affected their life very seriously. They may sleep up to 22 hours a day for a certain period. Even when they are awake, they are still exhausted. It’s said to have 1000 people suffering from Kleine-Levin syndrome worldwide.

Currently, the cause of the Kleine-Levin syndrome is still unknown and there is still no treatments or cure for it. The syndrome usually affects someone when they are in adolescence, and then the syndrome might just disappear mysteriously after 10-15 years.

After reading the news about Kleine-Levin syndrome, I feel that there are really many mysteries happening in the world. We should be kind and nice to others and ourselves too. Life is short, we should appreciate what we have and do what we want to, especially in developing self and helping others.

I hope there will be treatments or cure for this syndrome in near future.
