Compass is a device used for orientation in space. It consists of needles and directions: east, west, north and south. The needle compass reacts to the magnetic field of the Earth. The compass was invented by the Chinese and for centuries it was the main device for orientation in the space. Today it is replaced by different forms of satellite navigation.

I often rely on the sun to see where the north is, a compass would be useful in other cases but obviously we’re talking of obsolete technology. ?
I don’t think many people use them any more, they use their phones for everything.
