Have you ever sat on a jury?

In the UK you are liable to be called for jury service if you are on the electoral register and aged between 18 and 75. Given that I am now approaching 67, I could have been called at any time during the past 49 years, but it hasn’t happened yet!

This is something that I would really like to do, not only so that I can perform my civic duty, but because I have always been interested in learning what I can about the legal system and would like to see it at work and be part of making justice work.

My son was called for jury service within a year of turning 18 – and he sought and gained exemption! I am tempted to say “There’s no justice”!

Oh well, I’ve got another 8 years of eligibility still to come, so maybe I’ll get lucky eventually!

  1. We do not have this system so I’ll never be called to jury …
I guess it’ll be interesting … but I’m not sure if I’d be guilty of sending someone in …
