Today is a special day. My son’s birthday. I have to remember the good times. The happy times. That is what he would want. Really hard to push through losing him, but life is unfair at times.
I am left with 16 years of happy memories. Those are what I choose to hold onto. He would want me to smile and laugh. So that is what I will do today. Celebrate the time I had with him.
Now maybe some of you will understand why I always say to notice the little things in life, we are not promised tomorrow. Tell those you love how much they mean to you. Never take anyone or anything for granted.
Lighting this candle in honor of my son’s birthday. I will never stop celebrating.

Our ancestors used to celebrate the day of death as a new birth in the other realm. I never had such experience, but if it ever happens, I’ll follow that tradition, though it’s hard to not do the same on the birthday as well.
