Happy Mărțișor to all of you!

Mărțișor is an old tradition celebrated all over Romania every year, on March 1st. The name Mărțișor is a diminutive of March. It is a symbol of the coming spring.

Mărţişorul is a small object  with a red and white string with hanging tassels, customarily given on the 1st day of March.Women and girls  wear it pinned to their clothes, close to the heart, until the  last day of March, when they bind it to a branch of fruit trees.

Happy Mărțișor, dear friends! Bring the spring  in your life and soul … open your wings and try to fly … close your eyes and try to dream … is not that wonderful?

  1. Very interesting. I seem to have read this tradition from someone here, unfortunately I don’t remember it properly, but maybe Ellie.

Of course I don’t celebrated it but enjoy and imagine how that tradition is celebrated there.
