Sorry to disappoint you but no, little green men did not plant this flower. It is a strange-looking perennial plant that comes from South America. Besides Happy Alien flower, it is also known as Darwin’s slipping flower and was first discovered by Charles Darwin between 1831 and 1836. The flower looks like a happy alien that is holding a white tray. The plant blooms in the summer and has a combination of orange and yellow flowers. Its odd shape attracts small birds like hummingbirds who enjoy eating the white and lip-like part of the flower. While the birds are feeding the pollen from the flower’s upper part gets on their bodies and this helps pollination.

Oh so pretty and alien looking, I want one of those.
It is a very cute flower and a nice one to have in a garden, Dawn
now I have a mental picture of hummingbirds sipping wine and making fun of flowers.
Now that amusing scene made me smile, Doc
I am here all week, remember to tip your servers well!
Very interesting and unusual flower. I see her for the first time.
Ha! I do think the hummingbirds would enjoy this unique flower. I certainly would. Thanks for the mention.
As soon as I saw this delightful flower I thought about your garden, Carol and those hummingbirds
Oh how cool to be thought about, thank you. I would definitely love one!
Oh my God, it does look like a little alien. But I do not think it is holding a tray, I think it is sticking out its tongue… I hope Carol DM takes a look at this post… She will be jealous and will want one of these for herself…
Well, this little alien certainly would look great in her garden, Perhaps it is sticking its tongue out,
