Halloween Night 2019

When I was younger, we don’t go Trick or Treating or have any Halloween Party on the streets. However, we do have Halloween parties in school, but we don’t go around scaring people.

Suffice to say, Halloween celebration is not part of the Filipino culture. But being a dominantly Catholic country, we do celebrate All Souls Day and All Saints Day every first and second of November.

In recent years, however, I noticed that children would go out on the streets wearing scary costumes on the eve of the first of November. Not the 31st of October as commonly practiced in other countries.

The photo is taken last night during an impromptu Halloween celebration for the kids hosted by a neighbor.

The culture of other countries ones again being adopted by the Filipinos.

Which brings to mind several questions.

Do you know when the origin of Halloween?

    • Yes
