Gospel Brunch

Of all the places that you can imagine a bar can find a home, how about a church? Latvians have long had a saying that loosely translates that the road to the local pub is slow and easy but the road to Sunday services is rough. We all know what that means if one goes to church after a night on the town.

Here I am talking about a place in Liverpool, England that is known as Alma de Cuba. This bar has made its home in the former 229-year old Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic Church. I don’t know if this is a sin or not but it is an interesting thought making a church into a bar. On Sundays, they offer Gospel Brunch.

I must mention here that during the Soviet Union and Latvia’s occupation all the churches were either closed or turned into something else like a museum or a warehouse about any bars I don’t know but once the occupation was over all the churches became churches again.
