My Golden Privet bush has bloomed. Always a favorite in the yard. The shiny green leaves first, now the fragrant white blooms.
The bees and hummingbirds are attracted first to the smell and nectar. They will arrive soon. I just noticed the blooms today, perhaps after the rain over the weekend.
The smell reminds me somewhat of the honeysuckle but sweeter. I picked some blooms to have indoors to enjoy. And now every room in the house smells like my garden. Spring can be a great time of the year.

Thanks, I wish I had more of them. This one was planted about ten years or so ago.
… but it doesn’t take that long to bloom. We saw blooms after just a couple of years if I remember correctly.

Yes some use these as a row for fence or privacy.

The white in the photo are the tiny blooms.
Cool, I love the smell, it’s available here and mostly grown for fencing purpose.
I would love more of these as a fence perhaps.

It is a superb looking bloom… I have never heard or seen it before that I remember… Does it grow wild or do you have to plant it. Something my ex mother in law would surely like…

I have been told to avoid privet because it triggers hay fever, but it is a pretty flower and sweet smell
That is too bad Pam. I can see where this could be a problem because it is a strong fragrance.
