In the market here it is usually a haggling affair with the vendor. But not all vendors would tag a high price to their goods so you have to know them in order to save you from the haggling. Asking for a discount sometimes is annoying and some buyers refrain from doing so as not to avoid the vendor. But for me, a smile while asking for a discount is always effective.

My late mother is expert in getting a bargain. My wife though haggles but not effective. Me I don’t ask for a discount. I just want to know the last price. If it’s not reasonable I look for another store or seller.
