Going to an unfamiliar place for the first time

For domestic traveling or even abroad for the first time, it is a must to know some information about the place of destination. First and foremost is the language especially if the place is a no-English speaking country. Communication is very important so it is advised to bring your own glossary of words and phrases for the purpose of communicating with the people there.

Another angle to look at is the custom particularly those related to the dominant religion. Muslim countries are very strict with the decorum and behavior. In Singapore, littering is a crime that includes chewing gum and smoking. Decorum covers the way you dress. Being calm and reserved when speaking or gesturing is also the standard in any country. With good manners and right conduct, you can never be wrong.
