The German Bundesliga has five matches on tap for today. Two of the five matches are between teams that are in the top six in the standings. The marquee match-up is with third place Borussia Monchengladbach hosting fifth place Bayer Leverkusen. Only two points separate the two teams so whoever wins will be in third place. This match could be Leverkusen’s best chance to move up to one of the top four qualifying spots for next season’s Champions League.
The other high-level match is with sixth place VFL Wolfsburg hosting second place Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund needs to win to stay close to Bayern Munich, but Wolfsburg also needs to win to remain in that last qualifying spot for next season’s Europa League because they are only two points ahead of SC Freiburg, the surprise team of the year.
Even more pressure is on Wolfsburg because Freiburg is hosting 17th place Werder Bremen. Last place SC Paderborn looks to move from the cellar with a home win or a tie against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Neither Paderborn nor Hoffenheim have won in their last five matches. These four matches will be played at 9:30 PM EST. The Wolfsburg-Borussia Dortmund match will be televised on FS1.
The last match of the day will also be televised on FS1 at 12:30 PM EST with Bayern Munich hosting Eintracht Frankfurt. Bayern has not lost a Bundesliga match in five months. Frankfurt has lost the last four games in a row. Plus, Bayern will be looking for revenge after Frankfurt defeated them 5-1 the last time they played against each other.

Werder Bremen pulled out a 1-0 victory on the road against Freiburg
Dortmund shut out Wolfsburg 2-0. Wolfsburg has not scored against Dortmund since 2016.
Leverkusen whooped Monchengladbach 3-1 to move up to 3rd place.
Paderborn and Hoffenheim are tied at 1-1 at halftime.
Werder Bremen is up 1-0 at Freiburg.
Borussia Dortmund is up 1-0 at halftime.
Bayer Leverkusen is up 1-0 at halftime.
I went with Bayern, Paderborn, Freiburg, Dortmund, and Monchengladbach. I picked Monchengladbach because Lilian Thuram’s son plays for them now.
