Fruit Sandwiches

I live in the deep south, Alabama USA, there is not anything better than having a fruit sandwich for lunch, especially on a hot summers day. Now, you may ask what kind of fruits go into a sandwich and would taste delicious, I will tell you, I have a list of fruits that are absolutely perfect for a sandwich.

1 – Tomato Sandwich

The tomato is a staple around most peoples homes here in Alabama, if we don`t grow them or buy them from the farmers market we go into the grocery store, with head hung low, and buy the prepackaged tomatoes.

Just apply a generous amount of mayonnaise to the bread and slice the tomatoes in circles, usually 2-3 slices each sandwich, add salt and enjoy!

This is even better if you get the tomato cold 😉

2 – Pineapple Sandwich

Yes I do. This sandwich is like a dessert, sweet pineapple on bread with mayo and that is it. Pure heaven!

3 – Banana Sandwich

Yes this is all about fruits, just slice that banana length wise and lay it on bread that has a generous amount of mayo and you have it! The banana sandwich.

Now the banana can also be used with the peanut butter instead of mayo but once you have to try it with mayo, just gotta!

4 – Apple and Peanut butter sandwich

Yes, this is a nice combo. The sweet of the apple and the savory of the peanut butter, married and in bread. It works.

5 – Pear, cheese and lettuce sandwich

I can see your face now 🙂 and I am smiling. Wait, just hear me out. Ever had pear salad? Okay, this is the same, with bread making a sandwich.

First I would use can pears instead of fresh, its just better, drain the pears and set aside.

Apply mayo to the bread, sprinkle with grated cheddar cheese, add chopped lettuce and then top with the drained pears, top it and enjoy.

Now that is how I make fruit sandwiches, how do you do sandwiches?
