Sharing a photo with Kim’s Color Crazy challenge. This orange butterfly brightens up the garden. I see them a lot and always look forward to their visits.
One of the most familiar ones is the great spangled fritillary because of its large size, abundance, and widespread range. It is found in northern and central United States and southern Canada. It is only missing from northern Canada and some of the southern states.

Meant to say, your butterfly is a lovely creature…
Well, this day is now 4th of August, and we went out but it is mainly gale force winds and cold with some rain. Yes, Im enjoying this Saturday.
I always think of you and my daughter in law when I see butterflies. She loves them as well, and think they are also messengers. 😉 Anyhow…. I love this shot. I still cant get them to stay still long enough to shoot.
I did have a good day, it was so beautiful. One of those CA days you hear about, finally! Hope you had a good one.
Thank you Kim. I have seen more this year than ever. Still no monarchs but it is not over yet for the year. I do believe they are messengers, I have many that are talking to me in the garden these days. 🙂 I have recorded many videos as well. I will share those one day. Thanks, still very hot here.
A vid would be awesome. I tried to take one the other day of my hawk chirping in the tree by the back door. Not the typical screech, but cute little clicks and chirps. The vid will make you seasick. Still trying to get the hang of it. They turned up the heat here, itll melt your tennis shoes inland, and I actually had to turn on a fan at the beach.
I saw a viceroy yesterday on our walk. But with a dog leash, I couldn’t get my phone out fast enough to take a picture.

I was curious about the name of your WOW! butterfly, Carol, and I discovered that the very apt name, Fritillary is also the name of a flower with a beautiful checkered pattern; it seems like both the flower and the butterfly get their common name because of this interesting pattern. Another name for these lovely butterflies is silverspots because of the metallic markings on their wings undersides. Thank you so much for your amazing photograph.
Yes it is my friend, I read about that the first time I identified this beauty years ago. Amazing right! I also have silverspot skippers. I think I have posted this here before. They are incredible with that bright silver spot. And thank you as always!

Thank you dear Lado, another favorite in my garden. I stand very still until they sort of ignore me.
a small saucer of sugary water invites many guests to your garden. Times are harder for them as man, probably of necessity diminish their habitat at an alarming rate, I often put out a saucer in late summer and am often rewarded with flitting bursts of color surrounding the plate.
Another great idea. With all of the rain, I have been overly blessed with blooms this year. All full of nectar.

You have captured her beautifully! I am sorry to say that number of butterflies and birds is reducing constantly in my part of the world. But I am glad that I see them in big numbers in the countries I live during my postings.
