Love ItLove It

For the world is hollow

and I have touched the sky.

Reaching

with hands empty

and eyes clenched shut

fingers grasping

the air

blue flowing around us

through us

beyond us

stretching for the sky.

To reach

the edge of clouds

and

lasso them

with a giant  rope

that closing about the middle

of the clouds

pulls them to the ground.

We cannot now see

with clouds around us

as we stop reaching for the sky.

The sky now with us

drowns out the sound of laughter

and we reach for the ground.

    • Many years ago, I applied for the teacher in the space program from NASA. I was not in the first 10 selected, and sadly the only teacher ever sent to space (Christa McAuliffe) died in the Challenger disaster.

I as well wished to be an astronaut.

We are past talking about weddings, our daughters is September 2019

    • I wrote that poem many years ago, I am trying to share some of the old ones I never shared before.

This one was about the loss of a good friend right after high school.
