Flibbertigibbet ~ Use This Word

Flibbertigibbet is a Middle English word referring to a flighty or whimsical person, usually a young woman. In modern use, it is used as a slang term, especially in Yorkshire, for a gossipy or overly talkative person.

Can you see I added the above word to my photo? By the way, the photo is from a waiting room doctor’s office. They had a very nice aquarium, so I snapped some photos while I waited.

This is a #usethisword challenge by Ghostwriter. She has listed words to choose from and make a post. Make sure to use the hashtag #usethisword in the title of your post.

If you missed her post, you can find it here: Refresh Virily ~ Another Attempt

She actually wrote another post today explaining a different way to play this challenge. You can find that post here: Not Exactly What I Thought

Hopefully I did this one correctly. If not I am sure I will be instructed the correct way. Interesting words to choose from by the way.

I chose Flibbertigibbet (from her list) only because I know a few of these. I avoid these people as they usually bring drama with them. This is a silly sounding and innocent word I can use now, instead of the one I have used in the past. That is for another story. Ha!

    • She said you can do this one your way, no rules in place. But in her post, as I said above, this is a #usethisword challenge by Ghostwriter. She has listed words to choose from and make a post. Make sure to use the hashtag #usethisword in the title of your post.

  1. Pretty tank they have there. I have seen it one other time as well, before I got my tanks. I remember thinking, I really want a fish tank. Now I have two. lol. I like the word, and idea.

  2. I have to admit this is the first time I have ever seen or heard this word. Being a woman of few words, I am sure it does not apply to me. Great picture and post…

  3. This is really a challenge for me, as I don’t understand all those words. But it seems like we are all here to learn new words which is good. Thanks for sharing the meaning of this word! 🙂

  4. This took me to the lyrics of the song by those nuns in Sound of Music where one of the nuns asks what is another word of Maria and this was the word suggested (lol)

  5. I just saw the word hidden in the picture after I saw poll question #2. Now, I will use this word in a sentence. Every time there is a bug found on this site, Virily administrators say “flibbertigibbet.”
