First American Born President

Before he became the 5th US President James Monroe and his wife Elizabeth had the honor to attend the coronation of Napoleon at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France in 1804. At this time Monroe was the American ambassador in the U.K.

The 6th US President John Quincy Adams loved to go skinny dipping in the Potomac River as part of his morning exercise routine at 5 AM.

Even though the image of the 7th US President Andrew Jackson is on the 20 dollar bill he hated banks and was successful in de-funding the Second Bank of the US. Yet, his image has remained on the banknote since 1929.

A most interesting fact is that the 8th US President Martin Van Buren was actually the first American-born president because he was born after the American Revolution. The other seven previous presidents were all born in the American colonies but no one ever held that against them.
