Aside from the old Buddhist temples, another attraction of Ayutthaya, Thailand is the elephant ride. For $20 you can have a leisurely ride on the elephant for 30 minutes. Such a cheap price if you consider cost of feeding for the voracious appetite of the elephant. The driver is called Mahout which also sells souvenir items.

This must be a very interesting experience.
I have had couple of elephant rides but most in while in jungles as when elephant being used as jungle safari. If you check Kaziranga forest in Assam, India you will see what I mean. I had my first elephant ride in this forest years ago.
Looks like fun, my son did this at a park once.
I have not been on one but we do have elephants visiting here from temples occasionally.
we had the kids ride the elephants when we went the last time.
